I visited the Amazing Mill Markets in Daylesford during a recent visit, and would have to say that I was indeed amazed! It is the size of the place that is so surprising (and consequently the amount of stock available). It took us about two hours to look around the place, it's just so vast.



is one of a 'triangle' of 'Amazing' markets, the others being located at Geelong and Ballarat. The concept is the same at each, the Amazing Mill Markets lease space to stallholders. Without the overheads of a shop front, operating a stall at the Amazing Mill Markets becomes affordable even for smaller traders. This probably encourages the eclectic range of goods, and helps to keep the prices reasonable (at least compared with Melbourne prices).

The stalls are not staffed, so you can have a good poke around without getting hassled. Having said that, there were a few staff walking around asking if anyone needed help or had questions.

Amongst the many things on offer are vintage clothes, vintage furniture, memorabilia, art, glass, jewellery, books, antiques and collectables. There are door knob collections, dog collars, collectable tins; you name it, it's probably there.



I was a bit tempted by a pair of fleecy lined leather boots. They'd had a decent amount of wear, and so I decided that, at an asking price of $54, I could do without them. Dave found a very funky red 1960s 'flying saucer' desk lamp which he couldn't resist.



There are cafes at all the Amazing Mill Markets; at Daylesford, it's the Peppermill Cafe , which is open from 10am to 4pm each day. As it wasn't too long after breakfast when we visited the Market, we didn't stop for coffee at the Peppermill Cafe, however the food on display did look fresh and inviting. All the food is made on the premises.

Amazing Mill Markets, Daylesford is located at 105 Central Springs Road, which is approximately 1km from central Vincent Street. It is open from 10am to 6pm every day of the year except Christmas Day.
