Nestled amongst sugar cane fields is the home of Amandine Lavender Farm at Bargara via Bundaberg .


Rows and rows of lavender bushes greet you on the road up to the farmhouse and Cottage Gift Shop. Open from 10 am daily, owner Helen Griffin is more than happy to explain the properties of lavender, its use in your daily life and the benefits of growing lavender yourself.


The aroma of all gifts lavender invigorates your senses as you walk in the door of the gift shop, opening your eyes to the wonderful colour of purple in every piece of merchandise. Items available include lavender sweets, lavender gelato and lavender fudge, as well as soap, talcum powder, hand and body lotions, bags of dried lavender for your drawers, lavender aromatherapy products and gift packs, crockery items, scarves, necklaces in all shades of purple to suit your outfits, amethyst earrings... the list goes on and on. It's true what they say about lavender giving a calming effect on the user, as the distinct smell of lavender in the gift shop provided a calming shopping experience.


The plant itself comes in many varieties and these were grown in the cottage garden around the shop. A plaque depicting 10 simple steps on how to grow your lavender was position on the wall of the Information Cottage next door to the gift shop.
