Amamoor is a tiny rural town and area in the Gympie Region, Sunshine Coast Hinterland, bordered by Amamoor State Forest with plantations of Hoop and Bunya pine.



Located on the scenic Mary Valley Highway, the historical town of Amamoor has lots to offer to travellers, hikers, weekend trippers, campers, fans of country music and steam engine enthusiasts!



Amamoor State Forest and National Park has camping sites with facilities: Cedar Grove camping area is famous for swimming waterholes, while Amamoor Creek camping area gets packed with people during the Gympie Music Muster at the end of August.



There are walking tracks in Amamoor State Forest and National Park that gives the opportunity to explore rainforests, creeks, waterfalls and waterholes.



For the wildlife watchers, the forests are home to many species of birds, including mistletoe birds, robins and fantails. There are also Australian brush-turkeys! There are mammals like kangaroos, koalas and platypuses and reptiles like goannas and turtles.



Mary Valley Rattler.

Amamoor is the town of the historic Mary Valley Rattler experience, a journey in the past on board of the restored heritage carriages pulled by a steam engine.



The Mary Valley Rattler start its journey at the Historic Gympie Station, Tozer Street, Gympie, Queensland 4570. The Historic Gympie Station houses a display of historical stories of the Mary Valley Railway line and its people. Travelling on the steam train is a great way to see the beautiful landscapes of the Mary Valley.

The tickets are on sale on the website . The steam trains departs from the Historic Gympie Station and arrives at Amamoor where it's possible to enjoy food and drinks at the Click Clack Cafe.

Family-owned and operated, Click Clack Cafe offers nice food, great coffee and a relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy coffee and refreshments watching the Mary Valley Rattler running on the railway line and the steam locomotive turn around on the restored turntable.



Click Clack Cafe offers a range of food and great coffee. On the menu, there are burgers from $11.00, salads from $10.00, pies from $7.50, omelettes from $6.00, toasties from $7.50.

The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed. There are plants and flowers to add style to the cafe.

Amamoor General Store and Post Office is certainly another highlight in the small town. Family-owned and operated business in the Mary Valley, the General Store offers a wide range of services, including fuel, postal services and a variety of groceries and goods.

Located nearby Amamoor railway station, the shop sells practically anything, like the good old fashion shops where you could find all the items you need.



This retail store in the rural community carries a wide variety of goods, including hot food, grocery, some clothing, housewares, general travelling items, some camping equipment.









Look for fresh seasonal local fruits, vegetables and honey.
