New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Event:
Walk to raise money to help thousands of Australians
It is heartbreaking that at some time in our lives, some of us will be touched in some way by a loved one or friend who has a disorder or disease with no cure.

Alzheimer's Australia estimate there is 342,800 Australians currently living with some form of dementia and it is the second leading cause of death in Australia.

Each week, there are 1,800 new cases of dementia in Australia; which is one person every six minutes.

Alzheimer's Australia is holding their annual Memory Walk & Jog around Lake Burley Griffin to raise funds for supporting people in Alzeimers, research and education.

Ita Buttrose is a National Ambassador for this event, and explains why on the Alzheimer's Australia Memory Walk & Jog website.

"My father had dementia so I am all too aware of the impact it has not only on the person with dementia, but also on those close to them," Ita said. "It is important for people to know where to go to get help. No one has to walk the journey alone."
