It's raining. It's cold. You've worked all day and it's already night when you get out of the office.
Why not snuggle up on a comfy couch, some popcorn, perhaps a tasty beverage and watch a movie on the big screen?

There are a bunch of alternatives to the packed movie house, the uncomfortable seats, and the loud-talking movie hecklers.

Govindas in Darlinghurst has an excellent all-u-can-eat vegetarian buffet and movie combo for $28.60. Now, I know what you're thinking, "No meat, no way!" but you'd be wrong. The vegetarian spread is so delicious you won't even notice the absence. Recently voted best vegetarian restaurant in NSW by the Lifestyle Food guide, they feature a medley of international cuisines and excellent deserts. But that's not the best part; head upstairs to the screening room and catch first and second run films lying down on luxurious red couches.

For some classic and cult films seek out Madame Fling Flong's in Newtown. For $20 you can sample the offerings of Soni's kitchen downstairs in the form of a Mezze plate, enjoy a glass of wine or beer, and watch a classics like Sunset Boulevard (2nd of June) and Trainspotting (9th of June).

If boozing and meat is more your speed there's still some choices out there:The Darlo Bar screens free movies Tuesday nights and the Art House Hotel has a dinner and movie special in the CBD.

Darlo Bar features an extensive menu from local restaurants and screens the films outside on their second-story patio. If that doesn't sound nice enough there's also free popcorn! Upcoming flicks include Silence of the Lambs (9th of June) and Breakfast at Tiffany's (16th of June).
