By learning a foreign language as an adult, one is opening themselves up to a new culture and the benefits are endless. You can choose to study abroad, pursue work opportunities overseas, and actually engage with the local culture on your next holiday trip, instead of being limited by the run of the mill tourist experience.
But imagine the unique opportunities for your child if they were to start learning a foreign language today; for example your child would have greater confidence as learning a new language is a rewarding experience and he or she would obtain a wider world view and be able to learn about another culture, whilst having a 'natural' sounding accent and the ability to read and comprehend two languages.
This idea of offering a fun language program specifically designed for children, was what gave birth to AlphaTykes. This growing Australian business, was founded by mother of two, Leann Webb in 2006, after she travelled to Africa, Asia and the Middle East and noticed most children were able to learn a second language with ease.
Today, the AlphaTykes Spanish, French and Italian language program is taught in childcare centres, tuition centres, schools, and by private teachers and there are two programs available; AlphaTots (18 months to 3 years) and AlphaTykes (3 years to 12 years). The lessons are interactive and involve dancing, story-telling, games and craft activities.
Having been a successful program in the Eastern states, AlphaTykes now comes to Perth and Italian lessons are taught at Fremantle PCYC every Saturday from 9.15am.
You describe this program as Australia's only dedicated Spanish, French & Italian language program for kids. LCF clubs has been successfully running children's language clubs in these languages for more than 25 years and is now also in Perth. Seewww.lcfclubs.com.au
