Hawaii is my happy place. And it seems it is for millions of people worldwide as well. Although Waikiki, where we usually stay, is always so busy, the atmosphere is very exciting, fun and interestingly enough serene at the same time.
I have visited Hawaii many times and have stayed in different hotels and resorts over the years – most of the places we have stayed have been very pleasant and have met our needs at the time, but this time, we chose a resort which has been recently refurbished and upgraded.
Previously known as Pacific Beach Hotel, Alohilani Resort is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

We couldn't have asked for better accommodation.
Having recently undergone some health challenges, I get tired easily and I was a bit anxious about how I would fare after an overnight flight from Sydney and having to wait until 3pm when the official check-in time is.
I contacted the resort staff the day before our arrival and asked if they would consider letting us check in earlier, so I could rest after our flight.
They responded immediately and said they would do their best.
When we arrived at 6am the next morning, we headed straight to the grand reception and were pleasantly surprised that they not only let us check in, but they also upgraded our rooms.
Our stay only got better from there …
The rooms were modern and beautifully decorated, there was a bath in the bathroom, rain shower as well as handheld shower.
And the beds – OMG so comfortable!
The room had a mini fridge and a coffee machine.
And for my teenage son, fast Wi-Fi.
But the best part was the breathtaking view from our balcony!

The staff in the hotel was incredibly polite, kind and helpful.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better … I discovered the stunning lobby café/bar which features a saltwater oceanarium with a large variety of colourful native Hawaiian reef fish, Work Space and outdoor infinity pool and spa.

Although the hotel was a little more expensive than the previous places we have stayed at, the extra cost was well worth it.
The resort also has a gym featuring the latest equipment including state of the art cardio machines – treadmills, bikes and elliptical cross trainers, strength training machines and free weights, locker rooms, group classes, tennis courts and spa services.
We spent many hours relaxing at the Swell Pool & Bar which had views as beautiful as the views from our room. And we were spoilt for choice when it came to lounge chairs – lounge chairs inside and outside the infinity pool, large comfortable day beds, sofas with fire pits and for the ultimate luxury you could book a private cabana.

For children, there is a special area with games and a shallow swimming pool.

At night the pool and spa deck offered a place to chill, catch up with friends and enjoy live music, food and drinks.
The resort is centrally located on Waikiki beach … there is a Japanese restaurant on the premises as well as our favourite – ABC store, which sells everything you may need for your holidays – drinks, food, souvenirs, clothes, toiletries, jewellery etc

Our stay at the resort was incredibly enjoyable and I can't wait to go back in the not too distant future.
