The aim of Alma's Hem Music Exhibition 2017 is to offer the regional community quality music art from around the country and an opportunity to be involved. It also allows people of all ages to be among nature and participate in the positive activities going on around them. The music exhibition is a celebratory act of what the organiser, Kylie Kain, and her supporters are trying to achieve. They also aim to conduct workshops, camps and wellbeing activities throughout the year. These activities are aimed at, (but not exclusive to) helping the marginalised; people with mental health issues, the unemployed, those who are released from prison, recovering addicts, young mothers, teenagers and the homeless.

When Kylie was asked why this rural setting was chosen, she said: "I have lived here in this valley at the hem of Alma's Hill, for 20 years. I am constantly blown away by the impact nature, the quiet, the stars, the wildlife, has on people. And it seems to me that those who need it most, don't have access to it."

"Our mission statement is to 'include; to inspire and to uplift.'

This festival is a spiritual event that may not make good business sense from a budget point of view, but it makes perfect sense from the point of view of a member of the human race. "We can only be as well as the community we live in."

"It also occurs to me that our cultural practices are relatively thin. Our wellness is profoundly dependent on our interactions, our participation and our ability to express ourselves. To me, these things sum up 'culture'. So Alma's Hem is concerned with invigorating culture. And there is much to be learned about that from our indigenous brothers and sisters."

"In simple terms, she said, "we are trying to feed that part of the people through Alma's Hem Festival. We are making it open to children so they can dream something up. We are making it appeal to families so they can spend time - enjoyable and worthwhile time together. They can bring their sleeping bags and stay overnight."

For those who prefer to camp in style, Alma's Hem and the wonderful ladies at Kata & Belle will do the setup and pack up for you in the most classy of sleeping arrangements! The first 10 people to book their glamping experience go in the running to receive their tent for FREE!

So bring a blanket, your dancing shoes and your swag and don't forget the kids - and be prepared to have an enjoyable time!
