Feeding kangaroos and emus, spotting endangered Sun Bears and cheeky baboons are all part of the general admission at Alma Park Zoo, but for a little bit extra you can get even closer to some other unusual animals. Kids and adults love being draped by an enormous python, patting a baby crocodile or taking the opportunity to cuddle an iconic koala.
The zoo keepers at Alma Park Zoo also offer "VIP Animal Experiences" hanging out with Red Pandas, Pygmy Marmosets, and rare Eastern Quolls. Anyone who's seen the kid's movie series, Madagascar will be unable to resist the VIP Experience of hand feeding a Ring-Tailed Lemur.
Located only half an hour north of Brisbane, the zoo is cool and shady, with plenty of spaces for picnics, BBQs and for kids to run around. We had lunch at Palm Cafe overlooking the Red Panda enclosure, right next to a flock of proudly strutting peacocks. Alma Park Zoo is good value and those baby crocodiles are bound to keep everyone smiling.
