The emphasis in this event that takes place on Sunday 12th March, is on FUN. For Tristan Meecham, however, it will be hard work, sweat and maybe some tears, as he runs a marathon on a treadmill - all 42.2 kilometres of it. He has done this before but to keep him (and the audience) entertained and motivated there will be lots of activities and performances to achieve that goal.

Fun Run is as much an endurance test for Tristan as it is a community event with performers and spectators. While Tristan is running live on stage there will be music, dancers, gymnasts, special guests and most of all lots of FUN.

Shiny lycra not seen since the 1980s will be on display, as well as gleaming muscles, bouncing pom poms and a massive Fun Run Flash Mob that everyone can participate in. To join in the rehearsals or practice at home to a special video see here .

There will be all kinds of sports, fitness and dance groups performing to provide Tristan with the energy and motivation he needs to complete the marathon run. Martial arts, disco dancers, pole dancers, roller derby, female drummers and so many more. There may be even be fitness forms performed that you may not be so familiar with, such as U-Bounce.

U-Bounce is a great fun exercise concept, done in a class or individually, on small round trampolines, called rebounders. Led by the always- energetic, always- smiling Gaby aka Ms. Bouncy, a class of 12 will perform their jumps and bounds with much enthusiasm. You are welcome to join in, albeit without a rebounder. So make sure to stay and watch how high Gaby and her Bouncettes (mainly female but a couple of males too) can jump! With so much energy performed by the various groups every spectator will find something to his and her delight and participation. Tristan himself will be so focused on what is going around him, the hours of running will be a breeze.

The event goes on for 5 hours but you can arrive at the start, middle or end or even better, stay, play and dance your way through the whole event!

The Fun Run is part of the Betty Amsden Participation Program, a creative program supported by a $1 million donation which celebrates the creativity in all of us. The event is supported by Vic Health and is run in association with Circus Oz.

So come along to support Tristan and to have fun while watching him and all the entertainment.
