A few years ago I visited the French Riviera and drove to St Tropez. This stunning area was full of super yachts in every size. Such wealth in abundance was impressive and overwhelming. Since that day, I have often wondered what it would be like to go aboard a super yacht. When I received an invitation to board MY Seven Star, one of Australia's most luxurious charter vessels, I was thrilled to accept.
All Occasion Cruises is a family owned business operating a fleet of six unique private luxury vessels and MY Seven Star is their latest. This super yacht is 30 metres in length and has luxurious cabins, a home theatre, space for up to 80 guests for cocktails and buffet dining, a main saloon and bar area, spacious aft deck featuring large curved sliding glass doors, BBQ, fly bridge, giant sundeck with a hot tub, including Jet Skis.
MY Seven Star was moored at Cockle bay with easy access for guests to board at their leisure. On arrival we had to remove our shoes before boarding. This is generally a rule with most boats, especially one of this calibre. It was a balmy spring evening around 5.30pm and guests were starting to mingle on the aft deck adjoining the main saloon area.
All the cabins have flat-screen televisions and Foxtel tuned in, a VCR, Sony Hi/Fi Home theatre system, CD/DVD player and iPod docking stations - also satellite telephones. There were two guest cabins and more bathrooms.
It was a perfect evening; a gentle breeze and the city lights of Darling Harbour were starting to twinkle. You could easily imagine how wonderful it would be to charter this super yacht for a special occasion, or just for the sake of enjoying some luxury on the water.
I went back down to mingle with the guests and enjoy more delicious canapes. I have to admit they were some of the best canapes I had tasted in a long time. I was quite surprised as I didn't expect the food to be so good. No doubt, this is just an example of the quality you receive when you hire one of their vessels for a function.
The party was in full swing and guests were buzzing with appreciation and checking out the brochures. I was told that this yacht could be hired from $2,250 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours or $25,000 per day or even $100,000 per week. I'm sure this rate includes crew and staff but no doubt they tailor packages for the type of service, food and beverages required.
I was very impressed and had to conclude that if I had a special occasion or work party coming up, I would consider a super yacht as the perfect location and activity choice. What an ideal way to impress your guests!
