Love to sew? Love to learn to sew? Want to get back into sewing? If you think sewing is just for your grandma ... think again! There is a world-wide resurgence in lost crafting techniques. Young and old, girls and guys are enjoying the pleasure of the 'Make-Your-Own' revolution. ' ' is a one stop shop for all your stitching desires. Wendy and Damien are the owner/operators of this family-run business. They sell, service and repair all brands of new and second-hand domestic sewing machines. Damien is the resident mechanic with over 30 years of experience. Wendy takes care of customer services, administration and also runs one of the project courses. I am impressed with the extent of her product knowledge.

I love to sew. Because I arrived in Adelaide with nothing more than two suitcases, there was no space to pack my beloved sewing machines. I thought I could live without them for a while. How wrong I was. I needed to track down a little second-hand machine to unleash my crafting desires. My passion for sewing led to some dedicated research. I discovered this unassuming little gem of a business just south of the city. Their broad range of products is what encouraged my initial contact.

I phoned the shop and was greeted by Wendy who described all the second-hand stock she had on hand. My next step was to visit. I instantly fell in love with a little brown metal Husqvarna 2000, approximately 30 years old. After a test drive and a $50 deposit the machine was put on hold for me. While I was there, I decided to enrol on a couple of their courses. Although Damien and Wendy run some of them, Marcia and Brigitte also run courses and attend to customer services in the shop. Both of these ladies are friendly and knowledgeable regarding all aspects of sewing.

Tuition
The 'Get to Know Your Sewing Machine' course teaches basic maintenance, parts and their functions plus some basic stitching applications such as buttonholes and hemming. In the 'Get to Know Your Over-locker' course, you will learn to thread, maintain and set the tension for different fabrics. The 'Quilting' course allows trainees to become familiar with all the skills of patch-working. The 'Machine Embroidery Club' caters for beginners through to advanced students. The 'Computer Software Club' is for enthusiasts who want to be able to better utilise their machine's potential. They also have Sandi, a guest tutor, who delivers the 'Machine Quilting Skills' course.

Accessories and Supplies
After completing the 'Get to Know Your Sewing Machine' course I realised I needed to purchase a zipper foot as my machine didn't come with one. Because Wendy and Damien sell many new and second-hand accessories, I was able to buy one for just $9.00.

I also needed to stock up on sewing thread. Luckily for me, stock a range of quality branded haberdashery items. I always go for good quality thread because it really is the only thing holding your projects together. I was impressed with the range of colours and the two brands, Mettler and Rasant, met with the standard I expect to ensure stitching integrity.

Service with a Smile & the Extra Mile
Wendy & Damien even went the extra mile and emailed me a link to some You Tube clips that relate to my next course, Machine Quilting. If you want to see what a hip, young (male) freestyle artist can do with a cheap sewing machine, check it out ( [LINK=http://www.pnosa.com/fr_pnosasewing.cfm here][/LINK]). This course is so popular your name will have to go on the waiting list. You will experience a whole new world of creativity, once you get on to this course!
