At a recent market, I came across the creative business
Aligned Apothekary, owned by Sarah Heironymus. Aligned Apothekary sells unique and one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces, all handmade by Sarah through a technique known as electroforming.

Aligned Apothekary uses copper as a medium to cast any item from bark, wood, foliage, crystals and organic matter into stylish, authentic and beautiful jewellery. Chains on the jewellery can be made from copper as well, however, as copper can turn the skin green, leather chains have become more popular.

Sarah has always had a passion for using crystals and plants that bring about potent healing potential to people when used correctly. Copper is also an essential nutrient for the body as it enables the body to form red blood cells, maintains healthy bones, nerves and immune functions. Electroforming allows all these items to be brought together, not only giving beneficial effects but also giving the wearer a feeling of beauty and calm when adorning the jewellery to clothing and skin. The jewellery pieces for sale from Aligned Apothekary are rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more.

A good piece of jewellery always calls to the buyer and I was immediately drawn to the copper infusion on each piece. Copper is a soft, malleable metal with high conductivity and can be found deep within the Earth all over the world. Ancient civilisations like Egypt were known to use copper and if you look around your home, you will find copper has been used in plumbing, lamps, artwork etc. Crystal therapists often use
copper if a chakra feels unaligned or affected by malignant energy.

You may wonder how the choice of business name came about for Sarah. The word 'aligned' has a spiritual and healing connection with a new age of people wishing to source alternate healing methods for body and mind. The word 'apothecary' or 'apothekary' as Sarah has chosen, is a term used for a medical professional who formulates and dispenses medicine to doctors and patients and is also related to the age-old theories of alchemy. The process taken to create this jewellery is a type of alchemy, so the name Aligned Apothekary gives a profound and cleansing meaning to the process of jewellery making for the health and wellbeing of the owner.
