The story of Alice in Wonderland has a fascinating and entertaining history. The author, Lewis Carroll, was actually a pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a mathematician and Anglican deacon who lived in England during the 19th century.

The inspiration for the story came from a real-life encounter that Dodgson had with a young girl named Alice Liddell and her sisters, whom he took on a boat trip along the River Thames. During the trip, Dodgson told the girls a story about a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole and enters a bizarre and fantastical world. Alice Liddell loved the story so much that she begged Dodgson to write it down, and the rest is history.
