Embroidery is a fun and creative way to design and make your own works of art. Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric, materials, objects with needle and thread or yarn. You may also like to incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills and sequins to make your own embroidery extra special. Whether you are an expert, novice or you've never embroidered your whole life, you can always find something to admire about in this handicraft.

What's on? The Geelong Branch of The Emrboiderers Guild, Victoria is holding their Biennial Exhibition 'Alice in Threadland' from Friday 25th of October until Sunday 27th of October. The exhibition will feature a beautiful display of traditional embroidery, patchwork, contemporary textile art and embroidery with themes about Alice and her friends in Wonderland.
An interesting characteristic of embroidery is that the basic techniques and stitches remain fundamental techniques of embroidery today –these stitches include the chain stitch, buttonhole stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, cross stitch and many more.
On the day there will also be a gift boutique with handmade items and Christmas gifts on sale. There will also be a raffle with twelve great prizes on offer and refreshments available.
