My day usually begins by dragging myself out of bed and hitting my head against the wall until San Cisco's "Awkward" shuts the hell up. I then proceed by flicking through "Motivational Bodies" Facebook page in an attempt to inspire myself to pull on those dreaded Nikes and "hit" the gym, then forcefully sticking my head into a law book. However, my heart is usually far away from Torts and Contracts. You see, I am mostly attracted to the darker side of life; the less conservative, more indie breed of people. Unfortunately, however, I live in Queensland. which isn't exactly the alternative-music central of the world. Nevertheless, most cafes do sell double shot skim half-strength cappuccinos with no chocolate and organic beans.
So, what do I do on my days off? I travel to Brisbane, of course, in desperate search of those hipsters and dark mysterious men that us girls secretly dig. Luckily, we found Alhambra Lounge which encompasses all you need for an Indie night out: Miami Horror, obscure cocktails and plenty of General Pants (or op-shopped?) clad teens. Let's face it- there's nothing not to love. But, if you do get tired of the somewhat forced intellect of the cigarette-rolling individualists, The Met and Cloudland are only round the corner. Strobe lights, smoke machines, Pitbull and rum & coke will serve you well there. So, just to make sure you're aware, there's something for everyone in Fortitude Valley, no matter what music wakes you up in the morning, or what you read throughout the day.
