Serene green space in the heart of Melbourne

Alexandra Gardens a Garden Heart
Most large cities have at 'garden heart', a beautifully manicured green space, large enough to claim your own wide personal space. Alexandra Gardens is a favourite in Melbourne and is located on the banks of the Yarra River, ever so close to the CBD.

Offering admirable scenic views of nearby city landmarks, the gardens are also superbly positioned across the road from the main art centres, including; NGV International, Melbourne Arts Centre and Hammer Hall. These gardens are easily accessed via the Pedestrian Platform at Southgate.

If you are staying in here, you can access these gardens by simply walking continuously on the pedestrian bank along the river, taking you under the Princes Bridge. Or just as easily, up to the road and across 'over the bridge' Federation Square, with NGV Australia right across the river and Flinders Street Station located directly across from the square.

Such serene space, you can find your 'place of retreat' anytime you need a break from the city hub. It is popular with both pedestrians and cyclists and you can travel far along the side of the river.
