Mind, Mythos, Muse showcases over 120 garments and accessories of Alexander McQueen. Displayed alongside are some eighty artworks spanning painting, sculpture, prints, textiles, prints, photography and decorative arts that help the visitor to connect with the inspiration of many of his designs that were a hallmark of his career.

The NGV exhibition brilliantly displays his technical expertise and visionary mind in bringing historical styles translating to a contemporary fashion for today's world.

McQueen's short life of 41 years was packed with a multitude of ideas and experiences drawn from his appetite for reading art, design, literature and history along with this insatiable consumption of cinema and regular visits to London's queer club scene.

His love of fashion was evident from a young age. Growing up in London's East End, he honed his tailoring-making skills at Saville Row taking it into the fashion world with the influences of the changing pop and social culture of the 80s and 90s.
