No flirting during Alex's show but plenty of jokes
Overall rating: ★★★★
Melbourne-based comedian Alex Ward is back at the Adelaide Fringe Festival with her show 'No Flirting!'. You may have seen or heard Alex on ABC TV's Comedy Up Late, Tonightly with Tom Ballard, Triple J's Good Az Friday and Network Ten's The Project (as her character Pam).
Alex is currently headlining shows around the country with fresh material in her new show 'No Flirting!'. The show revolves around the story of Alex accidentally receiving messages meant to be sent to her girlfriend and the resulting paranoia that her partner may be cheating. Alex's honest confrontation of the insecurities faced in relationships are funny and relatable.
Alex may exude awkward energy, but she quickly puts the audience at ease with pictures of her cute dog. Alex keeps them on board with her charm and sarcasm despite the audience being well above Alex's target audience of millennials. In between dating jokes, Alex makes light of being in the lesbian community and her mother's odd appreciation of her sexuality.
