Depart from Castlemaine Railway Station at 11.30am and proceed to gaze at the regional Victorian views or chat to the party next to you as you try a selection of local beers along with light refreshments.
The beer selection is chosen from Central Victoria's finest craft brewers and will be accompanied with tasting notes. See the lineup below: Brookes Brewery Bendigo Holgate Brewhouse Woodend Castlemaine Brewing Company Tooboorac Brewery
Whether you consider yourself a beer expert or you want to try something a little different, this is the perfect event.
Never fear if you're not too keen on beer as there will be local wines and soft drink alternatives available.
The ticket price doesn't just cover the ride - you will also be treated to lunch at the Kangaroo Hotel in Maldon (and more beer) when you arrive at 1pm.
Then relax on the ride back and return to Castlemaine at 4pm. If you don't plan on driving, it's easy to catch a connecting V-line service from Southern Cross Station in the CBD.
The next departure date is April 22nd, hence it could be a nice start to another long weekend if you have taken a day off before ANZAC Day or just as suitable for a fun day trip.
Ales on Rails is just one of many events run by the Victorian Goldfields Railway. Tickets are $110 per person or book a group of 10 to receive a 10% discount. Please note this event is suitable for adults aged 18 only.
