If nature is your thing, enjoy the native flora and fauna with a visit to the . Park in the small car-park at the corner of Fraser and Dover Streets. The conservation park covers 300 hectares of native coastal scrubland. It is popular for walking, photographing native wildlife, and of course for bird watching .

Some birds you will probably see, and some others you might have to look harder for, include the Honeyeaters, Thornbills, Woodswallows, Australian Golden Whistler, Painted Buttonquail, Tawny Frogmouth, Finches, Sparrows, Robins, besides many others.

Of course, you will also see many other speicies, including lizards and snakes in warm weather. Fanciers of butterflies, dragonflies, and other insects will not be disappointed. Also look for scorpions, and frogs and other more reticent residents. The lagoon is a great place to see amphibious life as well as water birds including the majestic black swan.

Friends of Aldinga Scrub provide complete lists and comprehensive information on making the most of your nature-observation visit to the conservation park. Friends of Aldinga Scrub are volunteers who work together, pooling their expertise and hard work, to remove invasive weeds, collect seeds for propagation, plant and maintain trees. The Friends also provide information for school groups. They also have a great Flickr page for you to browse their many fabulous photos, to whet your appetite for your visit!

As in most nature reserves, dogs are not permitted. Neither is camping, or lighting of fires. The environment is fragile and endangered by modern lifestyles. Please stick to the paths. And of course there is NO VEHICLE ACCESS!

If you find you are a keen conservationist looking for a meaningful way to contribute, you can join the Friends of the Aldinga Scrub.
