I cannot resist a cafe that sources its produce locally from South East Queensland and it seems many others seem to agree with me. Alcove Cafe & Deli elegantly spills onto the footpath at Wilston, with happy coffee (Veneziano) drinkers seated on chairs hidden behind plants, umbrellas and flowers. From the elegant black and white awning to the vintage chairs, this place feels warm and inviting.
During the weekdays, Alcove Cafe & Deli is a very popular gathering place with all day breakfasts, fresh home made salads and gourmet sandwiches on offer. The deli itself sells a dizzying range of gourmet dips, olives, sauces, cheese, chutneys and more.
Over the weekends, their tiny deli transforms into a "village market" selling boutique fruit and vegetables, fresh flowers, and artisan bread. I totally enjoyed my Vegetarian Arancini served in a ramekin on a cute wooden platter and my husband did not complain about his Avocado, feta and dukkha smash on toast. The service was cheerful and speedy. The only downside was access to the toilet which was across the street and up a steep staircase. Alcove Cafe & Deli is a great little suburban cafe with a conscience and is definitely worth a visit.
