Suburbs serve up the goods
For the breakfast lover that I am, it's been a while since I've stumbled across a place I want to actually tell everyone about, encouraging them to go themselves. Sunday morning changed all of that. And this is where my story begins…at Alcove Café & Deli. Set on the corner of Kedron Brook Road in the leafy suburb of Wilston. This quaint, humble and sweetly decorated café sure didn't disappoint.
Every aspect of Alcove ticked all of my boxes. Great service. Tick. Value for money. Tick. Well prepared and presented food. Tick. Cute setting and atmosphere. It had it all. Tick tick TICK! Team all of that with these beautiful Brisbane summer mornings and you've got a perfect recipe for a winning weekend combination. I know I will be back to try a few more items on the menu I was wishing I could fit in.
Love coffee art!
The team at Alcove were attentive, polite and genuine. The service was quick and accommodating. As the morning went on more and more seats were taken up. And after only a short while, I could tell why. This occasion had me trying the Avocado Smash (and of course I added the 2 poached eggs) for my protein obsession. My partner in crime decided on the Boston Baked Beans, beautifully served in their own little ceramic pot of goodness. Team that up with 2 coffees and we got change from $40.
The flavours were fresh and unique and the servings generous. A great start to the morning! The menu itself (for breakfast, lunch or a little snack) would have something to suit even the fussiest of tastes and appetites. The clientele was varied which just goes to show the versatility of this clearly loved local. Paper reading, coffee sipping singles, older couples, young families and mature ladies who brunch. Something for everyone in a warm and welcoming environment in the inner city burbs.
To complete your visit, inside Alcove you'll find a selection of gorgeous fresh breads, locally made jams, an assortment of spreads and beautiful handmade gifts for you to browse and purchase. On this particular Sunday, they even had a few flower pots of flowers and herbs for sale.
Stop on by to Alcove in Wilston Village. You can find them every day of the week from 6am (for those early risers) until 2pm at 92B Kedron Brook Road (Click here for directions). So sit back, relax, smell the flowers (literally) and enjoy what good 'ole fashion service and quality feels like. I hope you find it to be as enjoyable and yummy as much as I did.
