Aladdin - The Musical in Sydney (by Disney)
Aladdin is the latest hit musical from New York's Broadway theatres to hit Sydney's Capitol Theatre in August. It features our favourite songs from the film, performed live on stage to entertain children from 6 to 106.
Aladdin, is the Middle Eastern folk tale of a boy discovering Jasmine, the daughter of a Sultan. After encountering Jafar, a scheming minister craving the Sultan's power, he ventures on a daring and romantic adventure with the help of the Genie, a magical friend from the enchanted lamp. As the story develops, you'll be captivated when Aladdin and Jasmine take flight on a magic carpet.

The tale, from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, is over 3 centuries old. It was adapted into the most popular film of 1992, Disney's Aladdin, winning 2 Oscars. This stage production is the creation of the talented producers, writers and musicians from the Lion King, Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast.
The cast is an exciting combination of experienced American stage performers and Australian singers. The Bathurst-born Ainsley Melham from Hi-5 and Xanadu is Aladdin. The Genie is Michael James Scott, chosen for his booming voice and imposing stature, developed in a long list of American musicals and television appearances. The principal cast are supported by a large ensemble of over 20 dancers and singers, filling the stage with colourful harmony.

The event is 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 15-minute interval to catch your breath. Aladdin – The Musical is premiering at the Capitol Theatre in Haymarket from 12 August - 9 October for convenient matinee and evening sessions – 1pm, 2pm, 6.30pm, 8pm.
