The New York Times says it's "Fabulous!" and "Extravagant! It defies expectations."

It is by the same producer as The Lion King, and in this production, Aladdin comes to thrilling theatrical life in this bold new musical.

It is filled with daring adventures, classic comedy and timeless romance, and Aladdin is described as "Pure Genie-us!" raves USA Today."

Disney's Aladdin features all your favourite songs from the film as well as new music written by Tony and Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, while the lyrics are done by the legendary, Howard Ashman (from Beauty and the Beast), Tony Award winner Tim Rice (The Lion King, and Aida), and book writer Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer).

Hailed by Newsday as "an awesome throwback to old-time musical comedy," it is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) and has a great design team, with sets, costumes and lighting from Tony Award winners Bob Crowley (Mary Poppins), Gregg Barnes (Kinky Boots), and Natasha Katz (Once).

The choreography is exceptional with show-stopping production numbers and incredible visual effects. Here is a video of a previous tour and it is well worth watching to give you an idea of the splendour of this enormous production:

Basically, the original story went that Aladdin is a street urchin who lives in a large and busy town long ago with his faithful monkey friend Abu.

Princess Jasmine tires of having to stay in the palace that overlooks the city, and so she sneaks out to the marketplace. There she accidentally meets Aladdin.

Aladdin gets caught up in Jafar's plot to rule the land with the aid of a mysterious lamp. Legend says that only a person who is a "diamond in the rough" can retrieve the lamp from the Cave of Wonders and Aladdin is the only person who can enter the cave and retrieve the magic lamp for Jafar. However, he becomes trapped in the cave and accidentally discovers the resident of the lamp.

Aladdin cannot marry the princess, as she must marry a prince, and if you do not remember the story, you will have to go and book for this wonderful show!
