Give a big warm welcome to the tangiest fried chicken your tongue will ever taste. Al Baik is the official home of crunchy broasted chicken in the world, so save all your mmmms and wooows for this extraordinary tasting experience.
Honestly, I've never heard or tasted anything like it before, until I visited KSA for an Umrah trip and people there were all raving about Al Baik takeaways. I didn't think it was a big deal at first since I love KFC, but then my husband and I decided to give it a shot.
After getting lost and spinning around Mekkah for 2 hours since it was our very first visit to KSA, we found a big crowd of people, like those groupies at concerts, waiting outside a store with a logo of a smiling chicken in bow tie and a hat on top; we then knew we've reached our goal. Of course, we waited in a long queue for another hour to get our order taken and we were so drowsy and hungry that we were getting desperate. But the mounting flavor filled aroma of our meals awestruck our senses; we were not thinking about anything else, but dipping those crunchy chicken thighs into their very delicious creamy sauce and eating them. I even ate the leftover meal box the next day and couldn't get enough of it though.
Succulent, crunchy and enchanting in every bite; their fried chicken is truly like no other and you won't find it anywhere but in KSA – Mekkah. It turns out that they have their own secret ingredients that even the store's staff has no clue of! It seems like the two owners of the store brew the secret recipe in an unknown location and they send it to the store for further preparation while keeping the main ingredient hush-hush, hence the everyday crowd and the growing popularity.
Their menu is quite distinctive too; besides their chicken themed menu, there are also juicy shrimps and fish fillet meals along with their signature garlic sauce. I also can't forget their refreshing light desserts and beverages. Moreover, next to each meal there's a calorie counter and not just the number of calories for the whole meal, but a breakdown of how many calories is there in a skinless chicken breast, so you'll be able to manage your calorie intake and at the same time indulge in a spicy crunchy meal of your choice.
A couple of things though, it's always crowded, so don't go there when you're extremely hungry and don't expect to find a seat that easily. You can try to purchase your order from the female section - it's less crowded. If you're sensitive to chilli, you may not be able to handle their spicy meals, as they sure do make you break a sweat, and finally, enjoy your meal to the last bite.
