There's a bargain to be found and a lazy weekend to be had at this popular Sunday market in Berwick.

Each weekend more than 200 stalls set up in the market, selling a variety of fresh produce, crafts, clothing, plants, books and other useful or quirky items. Come along for cheap fruit and veg, cheese, nuts and breads. Buy some children's toys, handmade items and collectibles, or get a trim at the hairdresser's booth. There is plenty of jewellery on show and fashion clothing for men, women and kids at affordable prices.

There is a well-stocked bookstore, selling second-hand (and some new if you're lucky enough to find them) books of all sorts. Well categorized into genres, in reasonable condition and at reasonable prices, there are some truly great reads to be found here.

Also at the market are a number of food stalls selling take-away snacks and coffees. Stop by at one for Sunday breakfast, brunch or lunch, or enjoy a bite to eat while you wander the aisles.

Akoonah Park market is growing in popularity and bustling every Sunday, yet it is not overcrowded and you don't feel pressured to hurry as you do in some other markets. There's plenty of room to move, so you are free to get about at your own pace and take everything in.

With many stalls set up undercover there is some shelter from the weather. The market is mostly accessible to prams and wheelchairs. There is free parking within the grounds, very close to the market. Otherwise parking is available along Cardinia St.
