Air Nightclub is the fresh face to Perth's one-track clubbing scene that weekend revellers have been waiting for. The stylish and futuristic venue has added a new dimension to clubbing that previously locals would have had to hop on a plane over east to experience (maybe that's where the air theme comes from?)
The club is a glimmering shrine to upmarket clubbing without the pretentious feel of exclusive venues. Everything in the club is polished to perfection - the golden entrances, crystal cocktail shelves and immaculate (and pretty cool looking) DJ booth just ooze class. Unlike most venues the lighting is more than just a random coloured laser show. The lights integrate very well with the decor, adding to the elegant feel of the venue.
There's three main areas; a small bar connected to the long outside balcony - and unlike most outside areas you can actually move around out here. The large dance floor which attracts crowds in large numbers is thankfully free of broken glass and sticky surfaces. It's packed quickly without being overcrowded and the people here are a lot more friendly than your regular clubbing crowd. The sound system cranks out the latest in Top 40 ans electro/house music with the odd super hit thrown in as well (of course!)
The upstairs VIP bar is a stylish and relaxed area to sit back with a few drinks. You have to get your name on the list (Just like their Facebook page) but it's well worth it. The chairs are awesome and there's even a wall mounted iPad to order your drinks from, talk about classy! The drinks list is fantastic too.
Air has beers to suit tight budgets and difficult tastes and wines varying from uni student to mining executive (right up to $750) There is no cocktail list but the well trained staff can mix anything you ask from Jack and Coke to high end Gin Martinis. If you're not sure just ask them to surprise you.
The crowd at Air is arguably the most pleasant out of any Perth clubs. A strict collared shirt policy keeps the Ed-Hardiots out, as well as most of the less savoury characters that end up in the news. The people here a very well behaved. The girls are more flirtatious than promiscuous and the guys show more manners than the usual seedy, egotistical stereotype.
Air is a very refreshing change for Perth that has restored faith in many who'd lost faith in clubbing - myself included. Great crowds, electric atmosphere and fantastic drinks make Air a very enjoyable place to party into the early hours of morning. I'ts a definite must do for any lover or sceptic of the clubbing scene - Air is a necessity of life.
