These free public performances by the Air Force Band are such a treat, whether you're a seasoned show-gower or rarely privy to the splendour of live music, everyone will find something to enjoy during the Air Force Band's FREE performance of Firebird in the Melbourne Town Hall on Sunday 8th October 2017.
Under the leadership of Squadron Leader and Conductor Mathew Shelley, this very talented assemblage of musicians are preparing to give generously of their time with an interesting repertoire called Firebird. With Corporal Matthew Hamilton out front on the euphonium, the Air Force Band will be presenting Overture to 'Colas Breugnon' by Dimitri Kabalevsky, Les Preludes by Franz Liszt, Concertino for Euphonium by Lars Gudim, March of the Belgian Paratroopers by Pierre Leemans and The Firebird Suite (1919) by Igor Stravinsky. Don't worry if none of these pieces are familiar to you, it won't diminish your enjoyment whatsoever. Just sit back and allow the music to flow through you.
At 2pm on Sunday 8th October 2017 the doors to the Melbourne Town Hall will be flung open and everyone who would like to come will be invited inside for a very special, FREE public performance. You're hardly likely to find a better quality performance for such a discounted rate, making it accessible to everyone and all ages are welcome.
