The Muslim calendar holds two Eid festivals. The first, Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and the second, known as the Greater Eid or Eid al-Adha commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to Allah. To celebrate, the Australian Islamic Centre's Eid al-Adha aka Festival of the Sacrifice on Aug 17 at 11 AM – Aug 18 at 9 PM is a festival for the whole community to come together and experience this multicultural event that attracts thousands of Victorians.

Held at Seaworks Maritime Precinct, 82 Nelson Place, Williamstown, this is a FREE family-friendly event with rides, food stalls and more. Since its inception, this festival has gone from strength to strength and not looked back. Since 1997 it has given the youth of the community a place to continue the traditions of celebrating Eid.
