For the first time ever, Agatha Christie's iconic play The Mousetrap will be touring Australia in August 2012. If you are a fan of Agatha Christie don't miss the chance to see this brilliant murder-mystery-thriller.
Agatha Christie's classic 'whodunit' opened on London's West End in November 1952 and has since played over 24,000 performances and been seen by over ten million people. The Mousetrap is the longest running show of any kind in the world and continues to delight audiences to this day at London's St. Martin's Theatre.
The Mousetrap is well known for its twist ending and at the end of every performance the audience is traditionally asked not to reveal what happens so that it is not spoiled for other audiences.
In celebration of The Mousetrap's (60th) Diamond Anniversary, there will be productions of the play worldwide. This famous murder-mystery was originally written by Agatha Christie as a radio play titled 'Three Blind Mice', but was later adapted for the stage and retitled 'The Mousetrap'.
A little bit of interesting trivia for you - Agatha Christie did not think the play would run for more than a few months and stipulated that no film of The Mousetrap could be made until six months after the West End Production Closed. As the show has been running for 60 years and still continues to run successfully, The Mousetrap has never been made into a film.
The thriller is set at a guesthouse, Monkswell Manor and begins with news on the radio that a murder has recently taken place in London. The owners and the guest at Monkswell Manor hardly take any notice of the news and a heavy snow begins to fall. The hotel becomes snowed-in and it is suspected that one of them is the killer. Everyone has mysterious secrets and they are uncovered as the play unfolds in true Agatha Christie style.
The Mousetrap will run for a limited two week only season at His Majesty's Theatre in Perth, from Tuesday 14 August, 2012 to Tuesday 28 August, 2012. Tickets can be booked on-line through BOCS Ticketing, by phone or in person. Visit The Mousetrap website for full details of all bookings including VIP, Premium and Dine and Stay Packages.
