Coles Patisserie have a dedicated cake section in many of their stores. This is a completely separate bar usually at the end of the bakery section.

They sell large cakes that feed about 12 people as well as packs containing two in each one.

Prices vary however, compared to cafes/restaurants, they are extremely cheap.

The best thing however, is that their cakes taste just as good as Cafe bought cakes.

There is a fair range, the best of the big ones being their Belgian Chocolate Gateau -this is an 800 g moist mud cake with lashings of Belgian chocolate on the top, and is priced at just $16.

Also available in the smaller packs are two rich, creamy vanilla slices which cost just $4.50 the pack.

They keep for several days so you if you only eat one, the other will keep well in the fridge.

They also have a chocolate lamington with fresh cream and jam in it, and this one retails at $4.00 for a pack of two.

Their New York style baked chocolate cheesecake is another rich, creamy cake that could be cut and served while telling a white lie that you made it yourself! This one is also $4.50 for two pieces and once again, just as good as at a restaurant.

There are several other small packs that I am eating my way through and I have yet to be disappointed by any of these baked delights.

A great alternative to home baking, or having your afternoon tea/dessert at a cafe.
