New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Make your own firefly lantern & tour the gardens by night
The Australian National Botanical Gardens is located just a short drive from the CBD in the suburb of Acton. Throughout winter they will be holding AfterDARK Firefly Tours on Saturday 3rd June, 1st July and 5th August between 6:30pm - 8pm. Start the evening with a delicious hot chocolate, then participate in the construction of your own hand made lantern. Your tour leader will then take you on a fascinating after dark discovery of the Gardens using your 'firefly lantern light' to help guide the way.
Gates open 6pm and close at 6.30pm, so participants need to get there early. These tours are suitable for adults and children over five years only. Please wear flat shoes and warm clothing - gloves, coats and beanies are recommended. The tour is not pram accessible and not suitable for those with limited mobility. The event will proceed in light rain and ponchos are provided if needed. Should the tour be cancelled for safety reasons, ticket holders will be notified by SMS.
