Where are After Hours GP Clinics in Perth

Recently, I had the unfortunate experience of slicing through my finger with a knife. At first, I thought a band-aid would do the trick but I found that the wound was deeper than I thought. After several layers of band-aids, I came to the conclusion that I should really go to the Emergency Room (ER).



I knew that while blood was oozing through the layers of bandage, it was not life-threatening. I did not want to add further pressure to our medical industry than what was needed. I further knew that if I was to go to a hospital, I would most likely end up waiting most of the night, as there were sure to be more important emergency cases than myself.

As a result, my family began searching for any General Practitioner that operated after hours. To my surprise, we found very limited options.

Finally, after altering search parameters, we came across Joondalup Health Campus which had an after-hours service. The clinic opened at 7pm which meant that by the time we arrived at our destination, it would be just after 7.

As newbies to the campus, we used Google Maps for directions. This took us to back of the hospital where we wasted valuable time trying to find the entrance. We resorted to calling the clinic for directions who directed us back to Shenton Avenue.

After parking the car, I followed the green arrows to the clinic. Due to my hast to get to the clinic as quick as possible, I forgot my mask. Luckily a security guard offered me one together with directions to the medical room.

The medical staff were amazing. I ended up having X-Rays to ensure I did not cut through the bone and left the clinic an hour later with a couple of stitches.



This was not the only time I had to go to emergency room. The last time I had to take my daughter who had elevated blood sugar. We went to Charles Gardiner who immediately took us through to the rooms for treatment.

My latest experience made me question whether there were other options for after-hour health care if it was not a life-threatening health issue. Which after-hours GP clinic have you been to in Perth?
