You have possibly never thought about it but an activity such as drumming is good for your health.

Rhythmic drumming can aid you to relax, reduce stress and therefore lower blood pressure. It can also foster a sense of playfulness and reduce anger and frustration.

Nothing quite like beating it out.

Drumming is probably just the thing you need after a gruelling morning at work with the boss harassing you and your workmates driving you mad.

In that case or even simply for the fun of it you might want to head down to Fed Square in your lunch break where they are offering a series of African Drumming workshops led by Asanti Dance Theatre.

Asanti Danc is a vibrant fun and internationally recognised African drum and dance performance company.

This high energetic ensemble will soon have you beating out a rhythm and beating away the blues.

The sessions are on at St Paul's Court steps every Wednesday from 6 November - to the 18 December, from 12pm – 2pm.

You can join in for free but a gold coin donation would be welcome.

No bookings required and all ages are welcomed. The area is accessible to wheelchairs. The clip below will give you some idea of drumming prowess below.
