Originally from the Middle East, Kebab refers to grilled meat cooked on a skewer or on a spit. It has other terms such as doner kebab (sliced meat and salad in a pita bread) and shawarma and is a favourite among young people and night owls.

Afghan Master Kebab has got to be one of my favourite restaurants in Sunshine. Whenever I am in the west side, I find myself eating there for lunch.

When you step in the restaurant, the first thing that you notice is the majestic, almost stage-like décor filled with plenty of bold colours and patterns. Their food is as colourful and bright as their décor. On the menu you will find a selection of Mixed Kebabs, Biryani, Qorma curries and rice. All dishes come with a simple salad, naan bread, raita and mint sauce. Their curries are perfect comfort food during the winter months.

My favourite dish is the Chicken Biryani with its wonderful flavours. It has just the right amount of spice and the chicken is very tender and juicy. The naan bread can go cold and hard quite quickly I found. This is probably due to the fact that I go straight to the main dish when it arrives and eat the naan much later.

It's a popular place for takeaways due to its central location. The food is of high quality, comes in generous portions and is very affordable. Most meals are under $15. The staffs are friendly and provide good customer service.

Without a doubt they have mastered Afghan food or for me the Chicken Biryani.

Oh Jennifer, I knew I shouldn't have read your post - I started out hungry and now I'm starving. Love your descriptions and there's nothing better than a kebab on a cold, wet night like tonight (raining in Queensland, who'd a thought?). Regards, Tony
