Finding a connection through art
Artist Daniel Coulson found his way into art when he was in hospital and feeling isolated and disconnected from the world. "I would begin to just scribble on paper, trying to express how I felt. I would show others and see if they can feel what I was feeling… some got it and others didn't. Then I started putting faces in the scribbles, and more people started to get it."

Coulson's first major solo exhibition, Aesthetic Distortions, is showing at the Carlisle Street Arts Space (CSAS) between 10 July and 7 August 2019. All are welcome to the opening celebration, on Thursday 11 July, 6 to 8 pm at CSAS, 99a Carlisle Street, St Kilda.
