The fun and excitement of Adventurethon Stage Racing will be on at Dwellingup in 2019. It will be a family fun day with some adventurous challenges.
You will be able to ride, run or just walk if that suits you better and paddle your way through some of the best locations in the beautiful Dwellingup region of Western Australia. This event will showcase some of the best and most unique scenery that this wonderful region is all about.
Hundreds of competitors and their supporters, as well as those just wanting a fun day, will head to Dwellingup in May for one of Australia's leading multi-sport off-road challenges.
The Adventurethon Demolish Stage Race will run over two days on 25th and 26th May 2019 from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. It will include three stages:
As an added bonus for competitors, there will be a high ropes obstacle course at Tress Adventure. This has been added to the adventure run stage for the first time this year. This will be a fun and unique element which is put on as part of an Adventurethon race.
* 25th May - King Jarrah Adventure Run This event will start your weekend of fun, thrills and adventure with firstly the trail run through the jarrah trees along the Lane Poole Reserve tracks. Lane Poole Reserve provides a perfect setting for your run trail run with the 250 year old king jarrah right next to the circular trail which also follows the scenic Murray River. There will be some challenges along the way to make this run more exciting.
Adventurethon Demolish has a range of run distances to suit everyone from the person doing this for the first time to experienced veterans. Beginners and juniors can challenge themselves at the shorter and less difficult taste or junior distance. Adventurous runners looking for a little more adventure might want to take the Enduro event. This is a longer and more difficult course.
For the real and advanced adventurer and the greatest fun, the Ultra is your option!
* 25th May Stage 2 - Murray River Downhill Paddle
After you have done this run you can then paddle along the picturesque Murray River. Paddle from your starting point to the finish line at Baden Powell water spout. These downriver courses are extremely scenic but that should not distract you from the many small challenges you might face between the start and the finish.
Beginners and juniors can take the challenge themselves at the beginner-friendly Taste or Junior distance. This is not as challenging as the Ultra or Enduro paddles but is no less fun.
The more adventurous paddlers who are looking for a little more adventure might choose to go in the Enduro event. This is a longer distance with a few small rapids to negotiate.
Then for the real adventurer and the ultimate in most fun the Ultra is your option. This will not be a long course by Adventurethon standards but it certainly will be plenty of fun.
Types of paddle craft that can navigate easy rapids and shallow sections include:
All these are suitable for this event as long as they have some buoyancy, such as foam and are a sealed unit like a ski. It is recommended that beginners use plastic skis to allow you to bounce off rocks if you make a mistake! Flip up rudders are definitely recommended for 99% of people so that you will avoid rudder damage.
* 26th May Stage 3 - Marinnup MTB XC
Race hard or cruise the Marinnup Loop or perhaps add extra trails to make the experience more of a challenge! Use this event to explore the varieties of terrain and vegetation that this region is renowned for - this will not be a disappointment!
The Marinnup Loop creates an awesome course for beginners and juniors. Here you will have lots of fun without the technical challenges of the longer courses.
The more adventurous riders who are looking for a little more excitement might want to undertake the Enduro event. This is again a longer distance with more technical sections to negotiate but this course should be achievable for beginners that are really up for a challenge.
For the real adventurer and the most fun, the Ultra is your best option. It is a long cross country course with heaps of interesting sections interspersed with some technical challenges.
On the Marinnup Loop, you will also see some very unique scenery of the area as you go on these superb cross country courses and trails.
