Max is an adventurer. He's an Aussie boy from the 'burbs who's not long back from a 60,000 kilometre adventure with his 'girlfriend on two wheels', a $500 BMW bike he calls Farlap.

Max can spin a yarn or fifty-two about his adventures on the road, as you can tell from his blog, and he came back with a saddle-bag full of photos that tell the story. Some pretty cool shots at that.

He's gathering an assortment of mates to put on a memorable bash you might like to get yourself along to. It's at Nest Coworking, 828A High Street, Thornbury on the 6th of March from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Max is mum about whether Farlap herself will be attending. However you'll get to see some 'Pimp My Ride' action, with some of Melbourne's best DIY Custom Motorbike Builders bringing along their best made-over bikes. For example, Aviator Cycles are working against the clock to get a CBX 550 build finished (if that means anything to you!).

The Good Brew Co.will be supplying craft beers and ciders at The Bike Bar. In keeping with the spirit of two-wheeled adventure, all drinks will be served from a bicycle!

The main event will be your chance to look over an exhibition of Max's photographs and to chat to the man himself. It actually the closing night of an exhibition, which makes a change from opening night parties. You've got a chance of buying your own limited-edition black-and-white motorcycle-adventure print at a very reasonable price as Max is running a silent auction on the night.

To quote Max, "It's an event for everyone so bring along your friends and family. Everyone is welcome - even puppies!" Just RSVP to

I like the idea of a rottweiler wearing a motorbike helmet propped up on a custom-built bike for a photo opportunity. If you suggest it to Max on the night, he might just make it happen. Or something equally adventurous involving puppies and motorbikes. BYO Rottweiler.
