The only problem is how to top this next summer
Trees Adventure Park
Bang in the middle of Glen Harrow Gardens in the Dandenong ranges, you'll find the Trees Adventure Park. Here the fun is all at tree top level where kids five and older can have the time of their lives at the five mid air obstacle courses, flying fox course, monkey bridges, aerial skateboard, and crawling through barrels.

Parents are welcome to join in if they dare and you will be going from 2 to 12 metres above ground as you negotiate the courses to shrieks of terror and delight, probably coming from you. There are various levels of terror planned for those with no fear of heights and others who can't summon up the right amounts of adrenaline. It's a great place to bond with your kids as you face the simulated danger together and come out jubilant.

Bookings are essential as tree top space is limited. All participants are required to sign a waiver form and you can do that here. Parents have to sign the form for kids below 18 years of age.
Location: Glen Harrow Gardens, Old Monbulk Road, Belgrave, Vic 3160.
Phone: 03 9752 5354
Time: Mon Fri 11 am to 5 pm; Sat Sun 9 am to 5 pm
Price: Around $25 - $39.

Hard Rock
If your kids are 8 years and older they can climb walls at the Hard Rock indoor rock climbing centre on Swanston St. Kids under 11 need to be accompanied by parents to undertake safety work or belaying at the base. Older kids will be taken through a safety instruction ritual on rock climbing before they begin climbing.
Location: Cnr Franklin & Swanston St. Melbourne
Phone: (03)9631 5300
Time: Mon Fri 12 to 10 pm; Sat & Sun 11 am to 7 pm.
Price: Varies from $18 To $30 and may cost extra for equipment hire.

Hard Rock - Nunawading
Their Nunawading centre has more kid-friendly climbing ranges and therefore kids as young as 4 are allowed to climb. This centre is located just off Maroondah Highway and is just about 20 minutes from the city centre.
Location: 16-18 Varman Court, Nunawading
Phone: (03)9894 4183
Time: Mon Fri 12 to 10 pm; Sat & Sun 11 am to 7 pm.

Cliffhanger
This is the tallest indoor rock climbing facility in the country going all the way to 70 feet high. It is located in the Westgate Entertainment Complex and children as young as 4 years of age are able to participate. They have different grades of climbing for various ages and abilities. Spine chilling as it might seem, it comes with safety checks in place and crash pads in addition to the secure ropes holding you in place. Don't look down would be the mantra that you need to keep chanting all the way up.

If you'd like to give this a go, you can get more information here. If you're a new climber, you need to make a booking before going in. You may need to pay extra for hiring equipment such as harness, shoes, and chalk. There are special offers available on and off and you can try your luck here. If you think you'd like to celebrate your children's birthday here, they have options for that as well.
Location: Westgate Entertainment Centre, Cnr Grieve Parade and Dohertys Road, Altona North, VIC 3025
Phone: 03 9369 6400
Time: Mon & Fri 4 pm 9 pm; Tue to Thurs 4 pm 10 pm; Sat & Sun 10 am 6 pm: Timings may vary for school holidays. You can make bookings for groups outside of these timings.
Price: Varies from $10 to $85 for individual and family rates.

Rap Jumping
This is might look like something dreamed up by a pirate when he got bored with making prisoners walk the plank. Rap jumping is where you walk down the side of a tall building poised horizontal to the wall. Even Spiderman preferred to face the wall and scramble on all fours. But they say kids 7 and older can do it. If you feel your kids have the nerve for this and you do too, go for it. It's all in the rope work, so you're pretty much all tied up and secure. You can see how it's done here.

If you're interested you can buy vouchers here , fix a date and time, and then all that's left to be done is to be there on the day. You can get more information about other details here.
Location: Urban Central, 334 City Road, Melbourne
Phone: 1800 243 868
Time: Sat 9.45 am; Sun 12 noon; other timings as per booking arrangements.

Your Comment
I tried rock climbing once. I was absolutely useless. My legs were too short to reach the distance between the griping pegs!
