Pirate things and fairy wings
Whether you are 5 or 95...the possibilities that can present themselves at Belair Adventure Playground are endless! Everything from relaxing in the shade with a good book or hanging upside down on the monkey bars. No matter how old you are or feel...this is the place for you.
Situated in Belair National Park, the Adventure Playground is just one of many attractions inside the gates. The entry fee for the park is $12 per vehicle but this is well worth it for a day of fun, sun and fresh air in the beautiful South Australian outdoors
We set in for a relaxing afternoon with a packed picnic afternoon tea. But not to worry if this adventure is a spontaneous one, as there is a van for food and drinks set up for most of the day on the weekends.
Packing the footy and cricket gear is a must as there is plenty of room to play without being in the way of other groups.
There were several large groups that looked like they had been there since the parks opening (8am) and set up for a day of celebrating. Balloons in all colours adorned the trees to compliment the amazing surrounds for a perfect party spot. The park just asks that you take all rubbish home with you. Several BBQ areas are available to use for free too, with tables and chairs scattered around.
Plenty of room for all
And then there is the actual Adventure Playground itself! The only down side is what to do first?
Lots to climb on
The standard playground equipment is still amazing. Double the size of your average suburban playground, it offers a diverse amount of climbing, slides and swings. This alone could have children of all ages occupied for a long time. Behind is the mound of tunnels that can entertain all day long. And these tunnels don't just lie flat either. There are a few inclines and turns to manoeuvre.
Then off you run to the big wooden fort over the far side of the grounds, next to a walking track. This is definitely a favourite for those with the big imaginations. Some children today were pirates, some were fairies, some were firefighters....you can be anything!
Whilst some would say that $12 is a lot, it is worth it to maintain these surroundings for the future. Bringing all your food and drink and making a day out of it is a cheap, fun day out for your family allowing for both relaxation and exercise in a gorgeous environment.
