Adventure Mini Golf at the Latrobe Golf Park in Bundoora will amaze you with its recently renovated layout and features. New owner, new landscaping, new courses, picnic areas, sheltered party areas amid well-manicured lawns all go together to present a venue that has good times scrawled all over it.

Two Brand New Mini Golf Courses

Two 18-hole courses are laid out spread around a generous space that takes you around corners as well as over and under bridges. The one feature that stood out for me was the spaciousness of the mini golf. The Adventure Mini Golf is not one of those tightly spaced affairs where you turn a corner and come back to where you began. This course entails quite a bit of putting and strolling. You have the Lakes course and the Desert course to add to the variety.

Water features and a little lake with shrubs and greenery means you are at the Lake course. While you're there take care not to step into the water to retrieve a ball; there's plenty more where that came from. The course itself has delightful obstacles that add to the overall fun element. I saw a peewee level enthusiast go at it with the determination of a pup with a Nike writ large on her face. She managed to sink that ball to big whoops all around.

The Desert course has a slightly different design and makes for a different experience. You go through a winding course that has ups and downs requiring you to really focus if you want to score. Of course, if you spend enough time here you will get to figure out the tricky bits and how best to go about it.

Depending on your level of expertise and the number of turns required, you can easily spend a half hour putting away at these courses. Another useful feature at the Adventure Mini Golf is that you don't have to pack up and rush out at sun down. They have stadium lights that let you play till closing time which is usually 9 pm throughout the week.

Picnic or Party at the Mini Golf

The covered party area is perfect for resting on a warm day after you've had a run of the place. It is also a great venue for a refreshing drink or a nice picnic if you're up to it. The picnic tables are arranged in a cosy manner that ensures privacy, if that's what you want, without taking away from the happy feeling of being out in the great outdoors.

Plenty of room assures kids don't get underfoot as you manage the party. Fencing around the area makes you confident they are not going to run away and get lost. Fantastic views of the mini golf itself as well as the driving range beyond simply add to the ambience. In fact, it even lends itself to family celebrations and parties for the young-at-heart who feel claustrophobic in an underground diner.

Talk to the Manager

Whether it's for a game, a party, for golf lessons, or to know more about the deal of the day, talk to Aaron, the one who manages all that fun and excitement. He's happy to tell you which end is up and make sure you have a great time. Isaac, the guy behind the counter is another genial person who's never seen without a smile and always happy to help. They can also help you if you're interested in using the adjoining driving range at Latrobe Golf Park

So, if you're up for a game of mini golf and are looking for a nice, clean, spanking new green to putt away or prove to your kids you still got it, make sure you check out Adventure Mini Golf in Bundoora . It's located off Plenty Rd and you can find it at Melway Ref: 19 G 7 right next to another quiet, peaceful location, the Preston Cemetery.

You really don't have to worry about noisy neighbours disrupting your game. If you're in the mood for Indian food, you'll find it just across the street. If you're planning on taking public transport, you need to take Tram 86 and get off at stop 58. The mini golf is open 9 am to 9 pm and they have floodlights that let you play uninterrupted till closing. If you can think of one thing that is stopping you from coming and having a whale of a time, let Aaron know why.
