Dubbed the Penn and Teller of Australia, The Adults Only Magic Show closed out The Melbourne Magic Festival last night at Arrow on Swanston. The 18 and over magic show was jam-packed with hilarious mind-blowing acts that were steeply layered in raunchiness. Sam Hume and Justin Williams met at the magic festival in 2014 and have since travelled across Australia and the globe delivering their unique brand of magic including mentalism, escapism, card tricks, not to mention a dash of nudity.

Winning numerous awards at Fringe festivals across the country with their two family magic shows - The Greatest Magic Show and CIRCUS - the duo (known as the Showmen) are a force to be reckoned with. The charismatic magicians easily engage with the audience and hold your attention to the very end.



I was totally blown away by their acts and couldn't believe my eyes when the duo swapped t-shirts right in front of my eyes. Sam who was wearing the white (slightly singed) t-shirt, was now wearing Justin's black t-shirt. Neither one had left the stage, nor did the house lights go out. Some of the other tricks whereby they asked for audience participation were enthralling, however, the sceptic in me left me wondering if they had friends planted in the audience to help them pull off the illusions. Nonetheless, the spicy acts kept coming and left me and the audience scratching our heads.

Both Sam and Justin are upbeat and pull you into their cheeky magical world with ease. Although I'm a little sceptical of some of the acts, their magic show is well worth looking out for. The highlight for me was when Sam informed us the backstory of how the pair met whilst a montage of clips and photos played through. Given the lads met when they were young and have years of experience behind them, there is no telling how far they will go.
