After deciding to stay for the Easter weekend in Canberra, I was left wondering what I should do with myself for those four glorious autumn days, and set about researching what was on offer. It is Easter, so I expected lots of Easter-themed activities, but I wanted things more aimed at adults. So here are my top five things to do for the Easter long weekend for adults, in no particular order.



1. Adults Only Easter Egg Hunt

The Duxton will again be holding their Adults Only Easter Egg Hunt this weekend, with the chance to find not only chocolate treats but also dinner vouchers, drink cards and more hidden around the bar. Ensuring that adults don't miss out on all the Easter fun!

Saturday March 31st from 3pm to 8pm @ The Duxton in O'Connor.

2. Eat Canberra Sweet Tooth Tour

On this two hour sugar filled tour, you will visit at least four locations where you will be able to sample some delicious creations. Even better, you'll be able to take some sweet treats home with you, so the sweetness won't end when the tour does.

3. The National Folk Festival

Once again the National Folk Festival is on again over the Easter long weekend, with over 200 acts that represent a diverse range of styles such as blues, bluegrass, Celtic, traditional, gyspy and of course, country. With so much on there will certainly be something for everybody!

March 29th - April 2nd @ Exhibition Park

4. The National Photographic Portrait Prize

Along with the Cartier exhibition, there is also the National Photographic Portrait Prize on at the National Portrait Gallery this weekend. This exhibition seeks to show the very best in photographic portraiture from around the country.

Everyday 10am to 5pm @The National Portrait Gallery



5. Cartier: The Exhibition

This weekend is the opening weekend of Cartier at the National Gallery of Australia, which gives people the opportunity to see all that shimmers and shines with over 300 items, including royal tiaras, celebrity jewellery and items from the Cartier Collection itself.
