Casual dance classes for adults in the Eastern Suburbs
Dancing is one of my favourite ways of exercising, and I find it much more exciting than the gym. If you live in the Eastern Suburbs and are looking for an adult dance school nearby, this article might be helpful for you. There are a few dance schools in the east, but as always, sifting through the ones that actually cater to adults can be a challenge. I've compiled this list for you so that it's a little bit easier for you.
I wanted to write about this school first, because it is more of a fitness-oriented dance class as opposed to a classical dance style one and if you're looking for a replacement of the gym, this could be it. Aussie Bodz has Tap 'n' Tone and 'UMove Dance Fitness' classes which run during the school term. Classes run on Tuesdays and Saturdays at $190 per term or $25 per casual visit. A great option for you if you're around the South Coogee area and are actually looking for a new and fun way to exercise without as strong a focus on technique.
Logan Dance is a school with two locations in Randwick. Dance styles for adults include adult modern ballroom and Latin American, Salsa, Cha Cha Cha and R'n'R. The good thing about the pricing model at Logan Dance is that students get a small discount. On a casual basis, single adult classes cost $27 per person, or $25 per student. The second class in the same day costs only $12.
If you get a discount card, 5 classes are $115 per person ($23 per class). The student discount card equivalent is $105 ($21 per class). The 5 class discount card is valid for two months. The most cost effective option is the 10 class adult discount card for $210 per person ($21), or the 10 class student discount card for $190 ($19 per class). These cards are valid for three months. See the timetable for class times, currently scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday nights for adults. Logan also has a Seniors Dance Class with special discount rates.
Located in Randwick, Move Dance Studios has a tonne of different classes available for adults. Styles include Salsa, Latin/Ballroom, Hip Hop, Zumba, Retrosweat, Barre Attack, Yoga and Pilates. Classes are on weekdays and Saturdays, with a full and diverse timetable. As with most of the dance schools, there is a bonus if you frequent them loyally. Pricing is $22 per casual adult class (one month expiry of a one one class pass), $95 for 5 classes ($19 per class) with two months to use the pass or $180 for 10 classes ($18 per class) with three months to use the pass.
Expression Dance School is located in Bondi Junction. This school has got numerous adult dance classes including Adult Beginners Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap. The timetable shows that classes for adults are on throughout the week on Monday to Thursday. This school offers one free trial class to patrons. Otherwise, pricing for casual drop-in classes is $18 per 1 hour class or $20 for 1.5 hour class. For $150, you can complete a 10 week course ($15 per class) in Adult Ballet Beginners, Adult Hip Hop Beginners, Adult Tap Beginners and Elementary. There are also discount class passes at this dance school. The 10 class 10 week class pass costs $145 ($14.50 per class) and you receive a free 11th class, or the 5 week class pass costs $75 ($15 per class).
I love the diverse range of dance styles available in the East. I hope that this list has been handy for you and helps you get moving today.
