10 Adult and Family Events Around Cockburn

City of Cockburn regularly have functions for all ages,and this is a list of both adult and family events on during the next few months.
[b] 1. The China Pop Up[/b]
This event is on 10th March, at Bibra Lakes Regional Playground, from 10 am to 12 noon.
It is a celebration of Chinese culture and here you will be able to experience the intricacies of this culture with activities for all ages, and food stalls. This will be a unique event, and will include:
Chinese lion dance by the Chung Wah Association
Kung Fu performances by Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy
Face painting
Inflatable fun
Chinese-themed art and craft stalls
[b]2. Cockburn Central Community Concert[/b]
This concert will have Darryl Braithwaite performing at the annual free community concert.
Darryl seems to have made a come back during the last year or so, and he is supported by James Wilson, with the MC being Tod Johnston.
Bring a picnic blanket and no Eftpos facilities are on this site.
[b]3. Women of the World[/b]
This event is on Thursdays during school terms and is from 9 to 10.30 am. It is held at the Yangebup Family Centre, 11 Dunraven Drive, Yangebup.
This is a free group for women who are new to Perth and seeking to meet new people and make friendships.
There is also a free onsite creche with fun activities for the children.
[b]4. Cockburn Cares Harmony Event[/b]
This event is on Saturday, 17th March, 2018 from 11 am to 2 pm. It will be held at Legacy Park, Veterans Parade, Cockburn Central.
You can celebrate "cultural and religious diversity" with free entertainment and activities for the whole family, and these include:
Face painting and henna
Arts & crafts
Information stalls
Guided meditation
Cultural performances
Food and refreshments
This event is presented by the City of Cockburn in partnership with local cultural and religious groups.
[b]5. Worm Farming Community Workshop[/b]
This will be held on Saturday, 7th April, 2018 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. It will be held at Bibra Lake Community Centre, 132 Parkway Road, Bibra Lake.
Worm farms are easy to keep and a great "adventure" to give children the responsibility of! They are also a great way to turn your kitchen food rubbish into fertiliser.
Worms convert the waste into both liquid fertiliser and castings that are great for all types of plants. You will learn all about the art of worm farming with a hands-on demonstration.
You are able to buy a subsidised worm farm for $85 on the night or if you prefer, just join in the class to learn all about this interesting recycling method.
Entry fee for this workshop will be just $5
[b]6. Understanding Business Financial Workshops[/b]
This workshop will be held on Saturday 17th February, 2018 from 9 am to midday. It will be held at Cockburn Health and Community Facility, 11 Wentworth Parade, Success.
The City of Cockburn is offering FREE business skills workshops which are aimed at residents from "culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds".
You will be shown how to understand key financial information, so you can tell exactly how your business is performing. You will be able to make financial decisions and see problems before they get out of hand.

[b]7. Anxiety Support Group[/b]
This group will meet on the third Tuesday of the month, from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Meetings will be held at Cockburn Health and Community Facility, Level 1, 11 Wentworth Parade, Success.
This is a group where anyone with anxiety issues can attend, and you will be in a safe environment. It is a free monthly group where you can also make new friends, while learning how to reduce those anxiety problems through yoga and more.

[b]8. Clean Up Australia Day[/b]
This will be held on Sunday 4th March, 2018 from 9 am to 11 am. It will be held at Omeo Park, Socrates Parade, Coogee - you will be meeting near the shade shelter on the foreshore which overlooks the Coogee Maritime Trail.
This is a morning when you will help clean up the litter that people leave scattered around our coastline. You can help by joining this group and cleaning up the beach and its surroundings.
Everything will be provided, including gloves and sunscreen as well as refreshments with plenty of cold water available. Please wear closed in shoes, hat and long sleeve shirt at this family-friendly event which is suitable for all children, however, does require adult supervision at all times.
[b]9. Henderson Waste Recovery Park Tour[/b]
This will be held on Friday 16th March, 2018 from 9.30 am to midday. It will be held at The City of Cockburn, Administration Building, 9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood. Meet in the carpark where a bus will depart at 9.40 am sharp.
This will be a very interesting FREE behind-the-scenes tour of the waste recovery park, and you will learn about the fascinating world of waste.
Learn how waste can be minimised and avoided, reused and recycled into new products, and how waste gas is converted into electricity. You will also visit the Reuse Shop to scan for bargains!
[b]10. Guided Indigenous Walk, Talk and Art[/b]
This will be held on Saturday 17th March, 2018 from 9 am to 10.30 am. It will be held at Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre, 184 Hope Road, Bibra Lake. The walk will be in the actual bushland surrounding Bibra Lake.
The season is Bunuru, which means hot weather and adolescence.
You will go on a guided stroll with an experienced guide to learn about the cultural importance of Bibra Lake, and the Nyungar six seasons. There will also be an art and culture session as part of this event, with bush tucker as well as light refreshments being provided.
Please bring your drink bottle and wear long trousers, closed in shoes and a hat, and the cost is $5.
Meeting location is Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre. The walk will take place in the bushland and wetland foreshore that surrounds Bibra Lake.
You must make a booking and this is suitable for children over six years.
