There does not seem to be much that Adrian Edmondson can not do. He has appeared in cult television comedies such as The Young Ones and Bottom, as well as film, is an accomplished director and has had a music career with some pretty spectacular moments (such as playing onstage with rock legends The Who and a number 1 single with Cliff Richard.) He is now set to grace our shores with this latest foray into the musical waters with Adrian Edmondson and The Bad Shepherds.
The band came about when Adrian drunkenly purchased a mandolin on the spur of the moment. Having forgotten about it until he arose the following morning, he decided to give it a whirl. At the suggestion of another band mate, he ventured forth to find some folk musicians and play around with the concept of 'Celtic punk covers'. And the rest, as the cliche goes, is history.
With two albums under their belt, what started as an experiment has snowballed into something amazing. Performing folk covers of classic pop and punk songs, this is sure to be an event to remember. Check them out when they play at The Corner Hotel on 29th of April 2013. Doors open 7:30 pm tickets are $49 available from The Corner Hotel website and venue directly.
