For the love of tea - Adore Tea, Gold Creek

There's something about the ritual of making a pot of tea which is cosy and comforting - maybe its the fact that you have to take a few minutes out of your day while it gently brews, perhaps its the tradition which goes back through the centuries. Whatever you love about tea, you'll find it by the pot full at Adore Tea in Gold Creek.

Adore Tea's Gold Creek Tea House was a mainstay on the Canberra tea scene for a long while before shocking fans by changing things up and moving to a warehouse a few years back. But you could hear Canberra's kettles boiling in celebration when Adore recently announced it would be bringing the Gold Creek Teahouse back to life.

This place is an Aladdin's Cave of tea treasure - there are more brews than you can imagine - from traditional blends to fruit and herb tinctures and beautiful blossoming flower teas. There are also teapots, teacups and all kinds of other tea-related goodies cramming the shelves. It's fair to say whatever your tea-loving heart desires, you're sure to find it here.

AS well as packaged teas to take home, you can sample a pot and grab a snack at the cafe. We went with the Devonshire tea for two which included two traditional scones and two apple and cinnamon scones as well as two teas. The apple and cinnamon scones were bursting with flavour but the real winners were the traditional scones. Gigantic, beautifully crunchy outside, warm and soft inside and set off perfectly with earl grey infused jam and cream, they were the perfect accompaniment for a good cuppa. Other than Devonshire tea, there is a small food menu with both savoury and sweet options and, unsurprisingly, a generous tea menu.

Although the café was fresh and brightly lit, it lacked the cosiness which goes hand in hand with a good pot of tea. There was a sparkling clean freshness to it but something to soften the space could encourage visitors to settle in a little longer. Of interest to parents, there is an outdoor play space for kids including games, colouring and a small set of play equipment. The kids menu was spot on too.

If you love tea, Adore should be high on your to-do list. Whether you want to sit and enjoy a cuppa or buy some blends to take home, you're guaranteed to find the perfect blend to keep your teapot warm.
