Would you love to taste chocolate that has been made from your very own chocolate tree?

Chocolate is much loved the world over, yet how many people stop to think about where their chocolate actually comes from?

Daintree Estates have created the Adopt a Chocolate Tree Program and by joining in, you are assisting Australian's own ethically grown chocolate. Relax guilt-free, knowing you are supporting a sustainable and environmentally conscious product, as well as supporting cocoa farmers in Australia and in third world cocoa growing regions.

By clicking HERE you can select the adoption level that you would like to support.

As well as the feelgood factor, you will also receive free chocolate bars and discounts at each level. It's tax deductible and open to individual and companies from Australia and around the world.

Before you get to this point you might like to understand how the program works:

All of the cocoa trees are grown in Far North Queensland by Australian farmers. It is this initiative to initiate a sustainable fair trade business to keep cocoa growing on local chocolate productions that results in a lower carbon footprint and assists to generate work for people and farmers within Australia.

Local Australian farmers will get part of your contribution, which encourages them to invest in Daintree estates sponsored programs. This will encourage them to boost their harvest and then their cocoa pod quality at the same time by planting more cocoa trees.

Part of your funds will also go into research and development programs, including understanding the Cocoa Plantation Plantation Ecosystem and the development of post harvest processing technology which can improve Australian workers safety production efficiency and costs.

Those chocolate makers who choose to participate and produce Australian Origin chocolate in partnership with Daintree Estates also get part of your contribution to make chocolate from your adopted cocoa tree. Some of this chocolate is then returned to you after every 6 months harvest.

It gives you the opportunity to actually adopt a living cocoa tree which is growing in far North Queensland, at the same time assisting Australia's newest industry and supporting Australian farmers who are planting and caring for the cocoa trees.

Did you know that the primary ingredient in chocolate is cocoa and many of the world's cocoa is growing in third world countries. It is harvested, fermented and dried in local farming communities where the infrastructure is poor and whilst the farmers and workers livelihood depends on the cocoa industry, they are often very poorly rewarded for their efforts.

The dried cocoa beans are then sold around the world to chocolate manufacturers and converted into chocolate which is sold worldwide.

Daintree estate have recently discovered the conditions in the Far North Queensland are perfect for growing cocoa.

As a relatively new Australian producer, they only commenced growing cocoa commercially in 2007.

So how do you come into this program?

By adopting one of the cocoa trees grown in Far North Queensland by Australian farmers you can choose from several sponsorship levels and you will get the following:

A certificate confirming that you have adopted a cocoa tree

Photograph of your particular adopted tree

Periodic updates and photos on the progress of your tree

The farme'rs personal story that links with your tree

And here's the good part for you - you will also get your choice of milk or dark chocolate bars specifically made with cocoa from adopted trees within the adoption time. Seedling adopters will get their chocolate in the third year when the cocoa trees start to bear cocoa pods.

You will also receive discount codes for online chocolate purchases from Daintree estates and a discount voucher for a visit to a cocoa farm in Far North Queensland should you wish to come up and visit in person.

The Unseen benefits for you: are that by adopting a chocolate tree you will know you are contributing to Australia's newest farming industry. You will be proudly supporting Australian farmers as they plant more cocoa and you will be assisting Australia to come about as a world leader in the exciting field of cocoa and chocolate production.
