Travelling can sometimes mean you sleep in some less than savoury places - the back of a bus, on a straw mat in a stilt house, on a rickety train. Sometimes it's part of the experience, but sometimes you just long for somewhere comfortable and convenient to become your temporary 'home away from home'. The Adina Apartment Hotel on Crown Street fits the bill, with comfortable and stylish accommodation in Surry Hills.

There are multiple apartment types to choose from, it all depends on if you're a solo traveller, a family, or a group. There are both one and two bedroom apartments, each offering different views and different sleeping combinations. Rooms include a bathroom with toilet, shower, and bath, separate bedrooms, a small kitchen area, and a lounge-dining are with a dining table and flatscreen television.

Other things you can expect at the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and spa, in-room massage service, baby sitting, WIFI (for a fee), and friendly and helpful staff.

There are plenty of creature comforts which help make this a great stay. The beds are nice and comfy, and you're not likely to run out of bedding or find yourself shivering throughout the night. The kitchen means you can make more than just a cup of tea, and the dining table means you can enjoy a real family 'home-cooked' meal while on holiday. But on top of all of this is the fact that the staff are all very friendly, and will usually try and help you in any way possible, even once you've checked out and paid your bill.

While many hotels offer things like a buffet breakfast and other dining options, things aren't quite the same at the Adina Apartment Hotel. Instead of a hotel restaurant you'll find well-known places like Bills , Billy Kwong , and Marque Restaurant all in the same complex. If you've bought some WIFI access you can even pop downstairs to Bills for your breakfast, hop on your laptop, and have the meal charged to your room.

Of course there's no need to feel restricted to these three restaurants - sitting on Crown Street there are a huge number of restaurants all within walking distance. You could try an interesting 'long table' dining experience at Table for 20 , or get brunch up at the popular fouratefive .

The hotel may not have the same charm that you'll find at some boutique hotels, but you can expect a very good nights sleep, a beautiful apartment to stay in, and a food fest right on your doorstep. It's also just a quick walk to Central Station, which means it's easy enough to get just about anywhere.

Hop and a train and head to Pitt Street Mall or the Opera House, or on a nice day do the walk on foot. It's around a 30 minute walk from the hotel to Circular Quay, but on a sunny Sydney day it can be a nice way to see the best of the city.

The Adina isn't budget accommodation, room prices generally start at around $250 per night, but the longer you stay the more discounts you get. With access to your own kitchen you can often save money by making your own meals, but with Crown Street's food offerings you might find it hard to resist temptation.

You can book a room online or over the phone, check out the Medina website for more information.
